BOK CENTER #7 ARENA IN THE UNITED STATES
(Tulsa, Okla.) April 6, 2018 – As the venue approaches its tenth birthday, BOK Center continues to break records and rank as one of the world’s busiest concert destinations. Pollstar announced today their 2018 First Quarter Top 100 Arena Venues based on ticket sales and BOK Center finished #7 in the United States and #24 in the world. BOK Center was also the highest ranked arena in North America managed by SMG, the Philadelphia-based venue operator that manages over 230 facilities, nearly 70 arenas, and over 1.75 million seats worldwide.
The #7 ranking in the United States puts BOK Center right behind Madison Square Garden (New York, NY) who ranked #4 and right in front of The Forum (Inglewood, CA) who ranked #8. The Tulsa venue sold more concert tickets than arenas in several larger markets including Kansas City, Dallas, Brooklyn, Nashville, Las Vegas, Chicago and Houston. “We are so thankful for the concert promoters and agents who continue to believe in the Tulsa market and we are so fortunate to be in a city that has embraced the venue,” said BOK Center General Manager Jeff Nickler. “This honor doesn’t only belong to SMG, but also to our regional ticket buyers, sponsors and corporate partners that have supported this venue from day one.” The first quarter of 2018 was highlighted by the first two shows of the arena’s 10th anniversary “Ten For Ten” Concert Series – Blake Shelton and P!NK. Other shows included The Moody Blues, Winter Jam, Avenged Sevenfold, Kid Rock, Big 12 Wrestling Championships, Toby Mac and Lorde. In addition, BOK Center has a stellar line-up for the remainder of the “Ten For Ten” Concert Series in 2018 with artists to include: George Strait (2 shows), U2, The Eagles, Justin Timberlake, Elton John, Bruno Mars (2 shows), Imagine Dragons and Metallica. “Congratulations and thank you to the BOK Center staff, all local music fans and our promoter partners for achieving such a high ranking for U.S. ticket sales,” said Tony Cima, Senior Vice President of Stadiums and Arenas for SMG. “This shows that Tulsa continues to be a leader for live entertainment and we are thrilled to be a part of and continue that success story.” Lanxess Arena (Cologne, Germany) topped the overall ticket sales rankings and Allstate Arena (Rosemont, IL) garnered the top United States spot. The rankings are determined by tickets sold worldwide for concerts from January 1, 2018 to March 31, 2018. Pollstar totals do not include tenant sport team ticket counts, some family shows, or SMG-produced special events. Pollstar is a weekly trade publication covering the worldwide concert industry. |
